If you are currently living in an apartment, you will understand all too well the frustrations that can come with having a small kitchen. In fact, in older or renovated apartments it is very common for the already small kitchens to not have pantries at all! At first glance, this might seem like a pretty big deal. But we’ve put together a few ideas that will help you free up some of that much needed cupboard space for your pantry goods.
1. Bookshelves – The concept of a bookshelf being used for more than just books is a trend that is quickly growing; and we love it! This shelf is a great alternative for storing your plates and bowls. A good tip is to pick a shelf that matches the color of your kitchen cupboards, that way it won’t look out of place.
2. Hooks – These little guys are an affordable and quick solution to help store your mugs. They can be easily applied to the outside panel of cupboards, or even above the kitchen sink. In fact, the fast “on and off” access will make you wonder why you were even going to use a cupboard in the first place.
3. Lazy Susan – This is a small set of circular shelves that turn on their own axis and can fit in most cupboards, or almost anywhere on your counter top. This option is a practical and cost effective way to store your spices. You can purchase one at almost any home improvement or grocery store.
4. Pot Rack – This can be a very practical solution when you are limited on space. All you need is a free wall and you’re good to go. Hang your pots, pans, and lids and you got yourself some extra room for food that will make up for having no pantry at all.
