This month we’re spotlighting Leander, a suburb on the north side of Austin, Texas. This week we’ll be talking about the schools in Leander.Leander ISD is a TEA Recognized school district that has 37 schools within the 200 square miles it services. It educates over 34,000 students and is one of the fastest growing districts in the state. Leander High School has an International Baccalaureate program and its school colors are blue, red and white. Its mascots are Leo the Lion and Leah the Lionness and it has active, thriving Fine Arts, Choir and Band programs. It also has a robust sports program and is located on Bagdad Rd. The other high school in Leander is Rouse High, which was opened in 2008 to relieve overcrowding at Leander High School.Leander’s Middle Schools include Wiley Middle School, Leander Middle School, Henry Middle School, Running Brushy Middle School, Cedar Park Middle School, and Canyon Ridge Middle school. All of these campuses are ranked Recognized by the TEA, with the exception of Canyon Ridge, which is ranked as exemplary.Leander ISD elementaries include Pleasant Hill Elementary School, Rutledge Elementary School, Whitestone Elementary School, Jim Plain Elementary School, Block House Creek Elementary School, and Winkley Elementary School.
