Father's Day Guide in AustinSome of the best advice that I have ever received was along the following lines: “people need to feel celebrated.” And from experience, this has turned out to be true in almost all cases. People want to know that those they love, are thinking about them and are taking the time to make them feel special, even if it’s just once a year! Sure enough, Father’s Day is approaching, and for most of us, this is a time to make that guy in our lives feel celebrated for all that he does. But if you’re short on ideas, try one of our suggestions below, or follow our links to find the perfect way to celebrate Dad this weekend!

Take Dad Golfing

Nothing says celebrating Dad like taking him out for some golf. And in this day and age, there are more ways to go about it then the full 18 holes out in some stuffy country club. If you’re looking for a little fun and exercise, but want to do so in a laid back environment that includes food and drink, then head down to Top Golf. This two level driving range is located in the Domain and is perfect for groups or pairs. You also won’t have to deal with the sun as it’s covered, comes equipped with booths, seating/tables, and fans, and also has a restaurant that churns out great eats and drinks! But if you’re looking for something more traditional, but you are not a member of a club, check out Grey Rock Golf Club. They are run by the Austin Parks and Rec and allow non-member play and bookings. This beautiful course is surrounded by trees, rolling hills, and lush greens, making it a wonderfully scenic spot to spend a day with Dad!

Father’s Day Dining

Almost everyone likes a good meal out, and Father’s are no exception. You should expect some lines as many people will be eating out, but here are a few suggestions of places that will make it worth your while. If Dad enjoys grilled meats, Estancia Churrascaria is a Brazilian style steakhouse serving up some of the best tasting meat in town! This is a fixed price, all you can eat restaurant, that includes a huge salad bar in case you crave your share of vegetables. They have an extensive wine list and traditional sides and desserts. Bring an appetite, because you won’t leave this place hungry!

If you aren’t a meat person, try out Hanabi Japanese Cuisine. Their sushi is ranked as some of the best in Austin, but they also have a variety of options and authentic Japanese foods to try. Hanabi has a couple locations in the north/central parts of town, so even though there will be some lines, they are well able to handle it, and their food is so good that it’s worth the wait.

Finally, if you’re looking for more of a laid back place to take your Father to, then you can’t go wrong with Hula Hut. Situated on the water, this local Tex-Mex favorite has all your favorite Mexican dishes, and of course margaritas and beer. You can sit out on the patio and watch boats, or the sun set, all while chowing down on delicious fajitas, burritos, or enchiladas!
